Niaouli is a tree in the Myrtaceae family, native to the east coast of Australia and New Caledonia.

Niaouli is a member of the Melaleuca family family, which comprises no fewer than 230 species. It was planted in the twentieth century in Madagascar for its wood.

The tree was then used to produce essential oils, recognized for their benefits on blood circulation.

Over the past ten years, as beekeeping has developed on the island, the bees have been producing the famous ORGANIC Niaouli honey.

Gigantic expanses of niaouli, also known as Melaleuca quinquenervia, can be found all over the island.

The Melaleuca ideally recommended for its powerful anti-inflammatory properties, is also used to stimulate the body’s natural defenses.

Several studies have demonstrated the anti-infectious, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal effects of niaouli EO or its main constituents. In particular, 1.8 cineole.

A study published in 2016 by LI Y and his team highlighted the effects of 1.8 cineole in the management of influenza virus-induced viral pneumonia:

1.8 cineole reduced pro-inflammatory cytokines and alleviated pathological changes associated with viral pneumonia in influenza-infected mice.

Another study published in 2017 by Y Li and his team in the journal Inflammation highlighted 1,8-cineole (12.5 mg/kg).

Administered nasal route concomitantly with influenza vaccination (inactivated viral antigen), it induces cross-protection against influenza virus.
