This blend of honey and spirulina is made possible by our partnership with our beekeeper beekeeper. He uses his all-flower honey from Aragonwhich he delicately blends with spirulina.
What is spirulina?
It’s a microalgae that proliferates and develops in freshwater lakes or ponds. It has been used for many years. Ancient civilizations already used it in their pharmacopoeias. Spirulina is now cultivated for its multiple benefits in controlled environments. This allows us to produce spirulina of excellent quality.
The benefits of spirulina :
Spirulina’s main benefit is its action on oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is an imbalance between pro-oxidant and antioxidant molecules, often in favor of the former. It induces premature aging of all the body’s cells. This phenomenon is therefore at the root of the development of many age-related pathologies, including cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s-type brain disorders and cancer. Spirulina acts on this stress.
It’s a source of vegetable protein. It is therefore suitable for vegetarians and vegans. It is also very rich in anti-oxidants, helping to protect cells from free radical damage.
Some studies suggest that spirulina may boost the immune system.
Other research also suggests that it may help to reduce blood lipid levels, such as cholesterol.
In any case, extremely rich in nutrients, it improves vitality.
It should be noted that although spirulina has many potential health benefits, it should not be considered a substitute for a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.
The taste of honey and spirulina :
Spirulina is slightly salty, even though it lives in fresh water! It has a slightly bitter aftertaste. Mixed with honey, the flavor is muted by the honey.
Did you know?
Contrary to popular belief, spirulina is not an algae, but a cyanobacterium!
