White heather blooms just after rosemary. In fact White heather<\/strong><\/a> whose soft white flowers brighten up the landscape, blooms as early as March. <\/p>\n

It’s a highly melliferous plant whose fragrant, bell-shaped flowers attract bees and enclose a small fruit called a capsule.<\/p>\n

Also known as tree heather or spring heather. Its Latin name is erica arborea. It’s a hardy shrub that thrives on sunny, siliceous soils. <\/p>\n

The taste and smell of white heather honey:<\/h2>\n

White heather honey has a strong caramel odor. Its color is dark brown. It crystallizes rapidly, sometimes within a few days. Its taste, reminiscent of the scent, is pronounced caramel with a woody vegetal note. <\/p>\n

Depending on the year, it will have a nice, creamy consistency on the palate.<\/p>\n

The benefits of white heather honey :<\/h2>\n

Like all honeys from heather<\/strong><\/a>white heather honey is diuretic<\/strong><\/a>. That’s its main virtue! It is also reputed to combat anemia, as it is rich in iron. In addition heather honeys<\/strong> <\/a>contain high levels of mineral salts. This makes it a perfect ally in winter, or in cases of magnesium deficiency, for example. <\/p>\n

The rhizomes of white heather, or \u201cbulbs\u201d, are excellent firewood, but are traditionally used to make pipe blanks, i.e. the part into which the tobacco is inserted before serving as a home for the smoke.
