Harvested in Balagne<\/strong>, between sea and mountains, balconied villages and wild wild forests<\/strong><\/a>Asphodel<\/strong> blooms in spring<\/strong> on land<\/strong> that is preferably arid<\/strong> and limestone. In this unspoilt natural setting <\/strong>, amidst villages nestled here and there between mountains and forests<\/strong>, our Asphodel honey is carefully harvested by our local beekeeper. Ideal as a natural sweetener<\/strong><\/a>the floral<\/strong> and slightly smoky<\/strong> notes of our Asphodel honey <\/strong>are the perfect addition to your hot drinks<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Cared for by our local beekeeper,<\/strong> the hive of eighty thousand bees is alive with song, the incessant flight of foragers and the comings and goings of Corsican singing insects. The asphodel<\/strong>, a hardy plant whose roots cling fifteen to twenty centimetres beneath the ground, is an excellent excellent melliferous plant<\/strong> <\/a>which wild boars love. The tall stems<\/strong> of this plant are covered with beautiful white flowers<\/strong>, sometimes yellow, which eventually produce a small edible fruit<\/strong>, similar to a cherry with a slight hazelnut taste. <\/p>\n

The taste of Asphodel honey:<\/h2>\n

Asphodel honey is considered a sweet honey. The first harvest of the year in Corsica, it has a slightly smoky odor. When tasted, this smoky flavor is also noticeable. <\/p>\n

In fact, it’s quite surprising! In any case, it’s a rare harvest that’s worth appreciating! <\/p>\n

The benefits of asphodel :<\/h2>\n

Externally, asphodel is said to have the following properties to fight warts<\/strong><\/a>but above all it is said to have antiseptic<\/strong> and diuretic benefits<\/strong><\/a>. A bit like chelidonia! Its roots are said to have been used to combat scabies! It’s only a short step from there to thinking that its properties can be found in honey! <\/p>\n
