The taste and smell of white heather honey:
White heather honey has a strong caramel odor. Its color is dark brown. It crystallizes rapidly, sometimes within a few days. Its taste, reminiscent of the scent, is pronounced caramel with a woody vegetal note.
Depending on the year, it will have a nice, creamy consistency on the palate.
The benefits of white heather honey :
Like all honeys from heatherwhite heather honey is diuretic. That’s its main virtue! It is also reputed to combat anemia, as it is rich in iron. In addition heather honeys contain high levels of mineral salts. This makes it a perfect ally in winter, or in cases of magnesium deficiency, for example.
Did you know?
The rhizomes of white heather, or “bulbs”, are excellent firewood, but are traditionally used to make pipe blanks, i.e. the part into which the tobacco is inserted before serving as a home for the smoke. These blanks are often made in regions where White Heather does not exist (Saint-Claude in the Jura, for example).
